“I costs, more plans to choose from and

“I am going to take care of everybody, Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.” These are words of President Trump on his replacement of the healthcare plan. Although President Trump has not put this into action, there are multiple different ideas that are happening. Repealing Obamacare will result in a better replacement due to lower costs, more plans to choose from and better plans.  500,000 fewer Americans enrolled in an Obamacare plan in 2017 compared to the prior year. This shows that many people are not happy with Obamacare and did not want to re-enroll with Obamacare. From 2013 to 2017, average premiums for individual health insurance plans have doubled, increasing by $2,928 according to the Department of Health and Human Services. President Trump’s plan has been to lower healthcare costs. According to Aidan Quigley Staff, “Trump has said he would encourage individual purchases of health care by allowing those who make those purchases to take tax deductions for their premium payments, the Times reported. For those who do not make enough income to pay enough in taxes that such a deduction would have an impact, Trump has said he would retain Medicaid as a block grant to state governments.” This would lower the cost of healthcare because people would be able to use it as a tax reduction. Through President Trump’s new executive order he states, “It shall be the policy of the executive branch, to the extent consistent with law, to facilitate the purchase of insurance across State lines and the development and operation of a healthcare system that provides high-quality care at affordable prices for the American people.”  Through the affordable prices, more people will be able to gain coverage with Trumpcare and not have to pay as much. Through Trumpcare, there is the ability for people to not be required to buy health insurance and employees are now able to go across state lines in order to get better coverage and not have to pay as much. Trump has repealed the individual mandate, meaning that there is no longer a requirement to purchase healthcare insurance for people who do not want to. According to the White House Press, ” In 2018, more than 1,500 counties (nearly 50 percent of all counties) are projected to have only one option on their individual insurance exchanges, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.” This means that 2.6 million Americans, or nearly 30 percent of exchange participants, will be left without a choice of insurers. Within Trumpcare there is the option for people to buy health insurance across state lines. Smaller businesses are able to group together through an association plan. Through the association health plans, the providers for companies are not able to deny people because of their past conditions. Individuals will not have to worry about not getting healthcare because of problems they have had in the past. President Trump states, “Currently, only about one-third of small business employees receive coverage at work, forcing millions of workers to enroll in the exchanges or remain uninsured and to pay the individual mandate penalty. Not good. Not good. That is one of the most unpopular things I’ve ever seen in government, I can tell you. This order takes first steps to make it easier for businesses to help their workers afford high-quality and more flexible healthcare through reimbursement accounts.” Being able to have employers be able to offer healthcare plans, there is more opportunity for more coverage from their job, people will not have to search other places to find healthcare coverage which means they can get a good plan through their own job.President Trump has said that being able to cross state borders for healthcare will result in a better option for plans because there will be more options to fit every individual need.  Trump states, “we are moving toward lower costs and more options in the healthcare market, and taking crucial steps toward saving the American people from the nightmare of Obamacare.” This shows that through the ability to be able to cross state lines, there are more options in the healthcare market, which is a benefit for all the people who are taking advantage and are using Trumpcare. Through having more options, there is the opportunity for better plans because there will be more options available.  As a result of Trumpcare, there is the repeal of the individual mandate, meaning that people are not required to have insurance, but the employer mandate still stands. The employer mandate means that if employers have 50 or more full-time employees they need to offer healthcare. This is still a good thing to have in place because then there is still the opportunity to gain healthcare through the employer, but there is also the opportunity to find a different health care plan that suits their needs better if there is one. By being able to cross state lines and to have employers be able to join together there is the opportunity for there to be many more plans, which means better coverage and more options. The replacement of Obamacare with Trumpcare will overall end up with many changes, but it will also be for the better. There will be more options, better plans, and lower costs. This will happen through the ability to cross state lines and through not being required to be a part of a healthcare plan.
